Professional Bio
Olivia Kirkpatrick, MSN, is an Assistant in Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is also a nurse practitioner on the MICU critical care team and functions primarily as a nocturnist. She is board-certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and provides critical care service to patients and families. Kirkpatrick earned her baccalaureate degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. She went on to study for her master’s degree in nursing at Vanderbilt, with emphasis in Adult Gerontology Acute Care, and was selected for training in the VUSN Intensivist program. She obtained her MSN in 2016 from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She is a Registered Nurse and has certification in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy Administration and Fundamentals of Critical Care Support. She also earned a Critical Care Registered Nurse certification in 2015. Kirkpatrick previously served as a Patient Care Technician in the Emergency Department of Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee while studying for her baccalaureate degree. She also spent four months as a Nurse Extern in the Neuroscience Care Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. After receiving her baccalaureate degree, Kirdpatrick entered a one-year critical care nurse residency for new graduate nurses at Vanderbilt, where she served as a Resident Critical Care Nurse in the MICU. At the culmination of this program, she was selected to work as a staff Critical Care Registered Nurse in Vanderbilt’s MICU, where she worked prior to joining the faculty as an Assistant in Medicine.
