Professional Bio
Paul Blair, MD, MHS, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Blair’s research objective is to identify effective and scalable solutions to rapidly diagnose and appropriately treat severe and emerging infectious diseases in frontline and remote settings. Through his work with Department of Defense and international partners, he has characterized scrub typhus in East Africa, described the clinical course and treatment of severe viral illnesses, and validated point-of-care ultrasound performance in wide-ranging settings. Dr. Blair's overall research goal is to address the striking need for tools to facilitate early patient triage and targeted treatments in resource-constrained and outbreak scenarios.
