Professional Bio
Paula Watson, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Science where she also completed an Internal Medicine internship and residency. She completed a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After working as a private practice clinician with Sarasota Lung Associates for several years, she returned to Vanderbilt in 2004 to join the pulmonary and critical care faculty as a clinician-educator.
Dr. Watson currently works in the Vanderbilt Lung Institute with clinic interests in Sleep Medicine and airways diseases such as COPD, bronchiectasis, and asthma. She also attends regularly in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and on inpatient pulmonary service at VUMC.
Dr. Watson's research interests focus on sleep in critically ill patients. She has authored and co-authored several publications on this topic and has been an invited speaker for national and international lectures.
