Professional Bio
Qutina J. Watson, EdD, is an Instructor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Watson received Master of Science and Doctor of Education degrees from Capella University, with her Ed.D. dissertation focused on volunteer retention rates. Prior to joining Vanderbilt faculty in 2023, Dr. Watson was the Interim Assistant Vice President for Strategic Retention and Student Success at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. In that role, she provided leadership and oversight for efforts in retention, college access and academic success. Her collaboration with senior leadership, peers and faculty allowed for a strategic plan focused on closing achievement gaps within the institution. Notably, Dr. Watson was a lead member for the institution's retention and accreditation efforts to conduct training and insight, with college’s overall mission at the forefront. Prior to working at Wiley College, Dr. Watson served in various roles as both an educational advocate and early childhood education administrator with 10 years of proven achievement in leading teams, planning, and implementing programs focused on educational access and academic success. She has been a requested keynote speaker at a collegiate convocation and a presenter at various collegiate workshops, as well as multiple religious engagements, and is a published author.
