Professional Bio
Dr. Rashmi Ambasta is a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Disease at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).
She earned her PhD in cardiovascular biology (Germany) in 2004 and later specialized in cancer and diabetes research during her postdoctoral training in Boston, USA. During her tenure as a faculty member in India, she continued to hone her skills in disease, medicine, and drug targeting.
Recently, her research interest has expanded to include the effects of environmental exposure on child health outcomes (ECHO) at VUMC. Prior to joining VUMC, Dr. Ambasta served as an Associate Professor of two Indian universities. She also has experience as the Principal Investigator of two grants: DST-SERB Young Scientist and CSIR Scientific Pool Officer at Delhi Technological University.
