Professional Bio
Rebecca W. Anderson, MD, MS, is a clinician-educator hospitalist, an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health within the Department of Medicine, and the Associate Medical Director of Utilization Management within the Department of Finance, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She completed a Master of Science in molecular biology and a medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During her time at UAB, she was recognized as Student of the Year within the Department of Biology, co-authored nine publications in many high-impact journals, graduated Alpha Omega Alpha, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Society. She completed internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco, before joining the Department of Hospital Medicine at UCSF with the Hematology-Bone Marrow Transplant service.
In 2013 Dr. Anderson joined the Section of Hospital Medicine at Vanderbilt University where she became a "Well-Champion" leader for physician wellness, was awarded Clinician of the Year in 2014. She has been a Physician Advisor since 2015, and Associate Medical Director of Utilization Management since 2019. She enjoys clinical work and practicing and teaching humanism in patient care.
