Professional Bio
Robert L. Abraham, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and Medical Director of the Vanderbilt Cardiac Device Clinic and of the Inpatient Telemetry Service at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He specializes in electrophysiology, the study and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms.
He completed his undergraduate education at Dartmouth College and medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. At Vanderbilt, he completed his residency in internal medicine as well as subspecialty fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and in electrophysiology. ?He joined the VUMC faculty in 2008. He is board certified in cardiovascular medicine and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Dr. Abraham specializes in the implantation and management of pacemakers and defibrillators. He also specializes in the management of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia. Dr. Abraham's research involves the computational study of arrhythmia mechanisms, including the study of cardiac action potentials and action potential propagation.
Dr. Abraham attends on the inpatient electrophysiology consult service at Vanderbilt Hospital and serves as an electrophysiology consultant at Maury Regional Hospital. He sees patients in clinic at the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute on the main campus in Nashville and in Columbia, Tennessee.
