Professional Bio
Sarah Bloom, MSN, practices critical care as an advanced practice nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is a faculty member in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine as an Assistant in Medicine in the Department of Medicine.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Ms. Bloom is trained in advanced cardiac life support and basic life support, as well as in fundamental critical care. She is a licensed Advanced Practice Nurse and is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Prior to her current position, Ms. Bloom worked in a variety of clinical settings, primarily at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, all focused in critical care. As a nurse practitioner at Vanderbilt, she participates in continuing medical education and in teaching programs for students, allied health trainees, house staff, and fellows.
Ms. Bloom is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American College of Chest Physicians. She has received several awards, including a Society of Critical Care Medicine Innovation Award, for her work in the ICU Recovery Center at Vanderbilt. She guest lectures on critical care medicine and post-intensive care syndrome (PICS), both at Vanderbilt, and at society conferences.
