Professional Bio
Shelley Ross, MSN, FNP, GS-C, is a member of the Geriatric Inpatient Consult Team for the Division of Geriatric Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She works with the consult team assessing geriatric patients for various geriatric syndromes while they are inpatient and also does a transition of care consult for patients of any age leaving VUMC and going to a skilled nursing facility.
Prior to joining the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Shelley spent over 20 years working on the SNF/long term setting caring for geriatric patients who required skilled rehab and also long term residents. Shelley has experience providing primary care for geriatric patients in the home setting and also assisted and independent living facilities. Early in her career, she did primary care for adults in the office setting. She also worked for the Indian Health Service in the emergency room, urgent care and the women's health clinics.
Shelley earned her baccalaureate degree from Lipscomb University in pre-nursing. She received a Master of Science in Nursing from the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She is a member of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association and is a certified Geriatric Specialist. She is certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an FNP. Shelley currently serves as a preceptor for geriatric nurse practitioner students at VUSN.
