Professional Bio
Tom Elasy, MD, MPH, is the Ann and Roscoe R. Robinson Professor of Medicine, the Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health and Director of the Center for Health Behavior and Health Education at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Elasy has over two decades of clinic and research experience in clinical care, modification of self-care behaviors, improvement of patient reported outcomes, and quality improvement including as a principle investigator and co-investigator on multiple clinical trials. His research has been continuously funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH). Dr. Elasy joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1998 and has had a thriving clinical practice during his time at Vanderbilt.
Dr. Elasy received his BA and MD at the University of Maryland, completed internship, residency and chief residency at the University of Colorado, received a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A former Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar and Generalist Scholar, Dr. Elasy has received multiple awards for excellence in research, teaching, clinical care, and mentorship.
