Udochukwu was born and raised in Enugu, Nigeria. She attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she initially studied radiography for four years. However, after realizing that her true passion was medicine and receiving the opportunity to move to the United States, she began her undergraduate journey again at Augusta University, Georgia, studying psychology. While at Augusta, she pursued several interests, including founding a Doctors Without Borders student chapter, tutoring undergraduate students and high school students in underserved communities, volunteering in free clinics, and research in diabetic retinopathy. After college, she took a gap year working as an ophthalmic technician and tutor, and fell in love with salsa dancing. Udochukwu then attended the University of Florida College of Medicine, where she remained committed to underserved communities through leadership roles in the Equal Access Clinic network, street medicine, advocacy work, and health equity research. She also explored the intersection of arts and medicine through choir performances, directing and acting in plays for the children’s hospital through UFCOM’s White Coat Company, and performing salsa at Gator’s Got Talent. Outside of medicine, Udochukwu is always ready to explore new experiences. She enjoys dancing, hiking, the arts, board games, traveling, and is a true food enthusiast. She is excited to join the Vanderbilt family and hopes to continue being a strong advocate for underserved communities throughout her career. Udochukwu was born and raised in Enugu, Nigeria.
