Vanessa was born and raised in Miami and woke up to the smell of Cuban coffee every morning. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology at Florida International University and then pursued a medical degree at the University of Florida. Being a true Floridian, she moved to Tampa for internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida. She finally decided it was time to spread her wings and joined Vanderbilt University for the continuation of her internal medicine residency. She hopes to pursue a career in gastroenterology and is interested in advanced endoscopy and gastrointestinal oncology. Vanessa enjoys spinning, pilates, yoga, reading, binging Netflix, video games, spending time with loved ones, and going on walks with her 4-legged daughter Olive.
