Professional Bio
Whitney D. Gannon, MSN, ACNP-BC, is an Associate in Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is also a MICU adult acute care nurse practitioner, and coordinator of ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) services in the adult MICU. She works to establish ECMO protocols and coordinating ECMO training for nurses, other nurse practitioners, and faculty physicians. In addition, she participates in research projects in the MICU regarding implementation of ECMO services and addresses other relevant research questions. Ms. Gannon received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She went on to receive a second master’s degree in epidemiology from Columbia University in New York. Prior to coming to VUMC, Ms. Gannon worked as an acute care nurse practitioner in the MICU at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. She previously worked as a registered nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Thoracic Society.
