Professional Bio
Adenrele Olajide, MBBS, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Olajide, originally from Nigeria, completed his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in his home country. He completed his internal medicine residency training, followed by fellowship training in rheumatology at SUNY Stony Brook (East Meadow Program) in 2003 and 2005, respectively. He worked in private practice in Arizona for four years prior to beginning an academic rheumatology career with the Department of Internal Medicine at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in West Virginia in 2009.
He has a passion for making access to care for everyone affordable and received an award for commitment to diversity in 2020. He has served on various committees at the intramural and extramural levels and is committed to giving back to his home country by supporting projects in Nigeria.
Dr. Olajide enjoys seeing patients across the spectrum of rheumatology. The challenge presented by the variety of cases and the different degrees of complexity make for very intellectually stimulating experiences. Dr. Olajide has experience teaching medical students, internal medicine and orthopedic residents and rheumatology fellows. He has done this in the hospital, clinic and classroom settings. He enjoys interacting with learners of various stripes, believing that learning is a lifelong experience.
