Professional Bio
Alexander Sullivan, MD, MSCI, is an interventional cardiologist and vascular specialist in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Vanderbilt Health. He serves as Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Research Enterprise and Director of Interventional Cardiology Research.
Dr. Sullivan is board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and endovascular medicine and certified in vascular ultrasound. His clinical practice spans complex coronary and peripheral vascular disease, including complex coronary intervention, peripheral artery disease, chronic limb-threatening ischemia, limb salvage, renal artery intervention and denervation, and pulmonary embolism. His practice integrates advanced endovascular therapies with comprehensive medical management of coronary and vascular disease.
Dr. Sullivan’s research focuses on the mechanisms, outcomes, and treatment of vascular disease, with a particular emphasis on peripheral artery disease. His work has been published in leading cardiovascular journals, including Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of the American Heart Association, and Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions. He is an Associate Editor of Vascular Medicine and holds leadership roles in several national cardiovascular organizations, including the Society for Vascular Medicine, the American Heart Association, and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Society of Vascular Medicine, and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.
