Professional Bio
Amanda Doran, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). She attended the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Virginia, where she earned her MD and PhD in Molecular Physiology in the lab of Dr. Coleen McNamara. Following completion of her MD, she did an Internal Medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center. She went on to complete a clinical fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Columbia University Medical Center. During this time, she also completed post-doctoral training at Columbia University with Dr. Ira Tabas in the Division of Molecular Medicine. Dr. Doran is a physician-scientist whose research focuses on the immune mechanisms of cardiovascular disease. As a result of this work, she has obtained funding through the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. She has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including Circulation Research, Immunity, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation. She is clinically active on the inpatient Cardiology consult service and in the VUMC Lipid Clinic.
