Professional Bio
Ana Salina, PhD, is a Fellow in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Originally from Brazil, she received her bachelor's and master's degrees at São Paulo State University and her PhD from São Paulo University. During this time, she aimed to understand how the phagocytosis of bacterial-infected cells could modulate macrophage activation. She then completed her first postdoc at São Paulo University studying the efferocytosis of SARS-COV-2-dead cells.
Dr. Salina joined Dr. Carlos Henrique Serezani’s lab in 2022. Here, she is interested in understanding why dead cells accumulate in the skin of diabetic mice and the pathway to restore homeostasis during infection.
