Andres Dones
Interests

Andres was born and raised in a Cuban family in Miami, Florida. He attended Vanderbilt University as a Chancellor’s Scholar and majored in neuroscience. He then attended medical school at Vanderbilt. Andres has had a lifelong passion for advocating for people with disabilities. As a medical student, he worked to improve medical education on providing equitable and compassionate care to patients with disabilities and hopes to continue this work in residency. Outside of the hospital, Andres enjoys spending time with his dog, Harry, hiking, being in the outdoors, reading, and trying out Nashville’s food scene. Andres is thrilled to be continuing his training at Vanderbilt as a “Triple Dore”. He has loved being a part of the Vanderbilt community and can’t wait to meet the new intern class. Fun Fact: before applying to medical school, Andres wanted to be a film director. He wrote, filmed, and edited his own documentary, called Project SHIELD.
