Professional Bio
Arvindh Kanagasundram, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Program Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Kanagasundram completed undergraduate education at Dartmouth College and obtained his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He trained in internal medicine at Stanford University Hospital, where he served an additional year at chief resident focused on running the teaching conferences and contributing to the administration of the program. He completed training in cardiovascular medicine at New York Presbyterian (Weill Cornell) and cardiac electrophysiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 2013, Dr. Kanagasundram joined faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Kanagasundram has an active clinical practice in cardiac electrophysiology specializing in diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias, device management and stroke prevention. His focus is on the treatment of complex arrhythmias especially catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardias and implantation of left atrial appendage occlusion devices for stroke management. Dr. Kanagasundram attends on inpatient consult services, cares for patients through his outpatient clinics (Nashville and Columbia), and performs a wide arrange of cardiac electrophysiology procedures. He is motivated to identify and contribute to issues facing clinical care which has cultivated active research interests in ventricular tachycardia and left atrial appendage occlusion outcomes.
Dr. Kanagasundram enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. He lectures both within Vanderbilt and at national teaching conferences. He welcomes anyone interested in cardiac electrophysiology to reach out to him directly.
