Professional Bio
Brian Christman, MD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He currently cares for patients at the VA Tennessee Valley Health Care System (adjacent to Vanderbilt University Medical Center) in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. He sees patients and teaches in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, on the Pulmonary Consultation Service, in the Pulmonary Clinic, and serves as an Inpatient Medicine Ward Attending Physician. He has broad clinical interests in asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, ARDS, mechanical ventilation, sepsis and pulmonary vascular disease. Dr. Christman has been involved in both basic and clinical-translational research for many years with support from NHLBI, NCI, ALA, and the Francis Family Foundation. He served as Chair of Research Committee C for the American Lung Association from 2003-2020 and continues to facilitate research by fellows and faculty within the medical center. Dr. Christman currently serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs, Veterans Administration Hospital and is a Department of Medicine Diversity Liaison Committee member.
