Assistant in Medicine

Division of Cardiovascular Medicine
Cassady Pelphrey
Professional Bio
Cassady Pelphrey, MS, is a genetic counselor in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She earned her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed a thesis aimed at the patient perspective of care for females with familial hypercholesterolemia. Following her training, she accepted a genetic counseling position at the University of Florida Aortic Disease Center where she saw patients with a history of aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, and/or suspicion for a connective tissue disorder. During that time Pelphrey worked directly with the surgical team to ensure genetic test results were utilized in surgical planning; updated departmental practice standards based on recent publications, presented all proposed updates to the department, and integrated feedback for overall improved patient experience and organized all records within the genetics department for better utilization for future research projects.
