Professional Bio
Cecilia Theobald, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 2023, was named Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Chief of Staff for Corporate Clinical Affairs and Senior Vice President for Clinical Affairs. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed her residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt. She also completed a VA Quality Scholars fellowship and received her Masters in Public Health from Vanderbilt. She has since served in quality and clinical administrative leadership and previously served as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs for the Department of Medicine. She is a general internist practicing outpatient primary care with a focus on LGBTQ+ health, and has been recognized for excellence in teaching ambulatory medicine. Her research interests focus on evaluating and teaching quality improvement skills and improving the safety of care transitions.
