Claire Whalen
Interests

Claire grew up just outside of Indianapolis in Greenwood, IN. She studied Psychology and Pre-Medicine at the University of Notre Dame, including a semester abroad in Puebla, Mexico. After graduation, she spent a year working at a bilingual community resource center in the Little Village/La Villita neighborhood of Chicago before returning home for medical school at Indiana University. Claire is thrilled to be joining the Vanderbilt Med-Peds program and is excited to explore Nashville's food and music scenes, sports teams, and surrounding nature. Professionally, her interests include hospitalist medicine, sports medicine, medical education, and working with the Hispanic/Latinx population. Outside of the hospital, you can find Claire watching sports, running, reading, baking/cooking a new recipe, and spending time with family and friends. Fun Fact: In high school, Claire did radio broadcast color commentary for the men's basketball team, and she still loves to talk sports in depth, especially football, women's and men's basketball, and running!
