Professional Bio
Daniel Muñoz, MD, MPA, is the Executive Medical Director of the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His clinical activities include the care of critically ill patients in the cardiovascular intensive care unit, as well as the care and counseling of patients in the primary and secondary prevention settings. His clinical research has focused on the development of innovative strategies for lowering cardiovascular risk and improving patient outcomes in high-risk primary prevention settings. Prior to joining the Vanderbilt faculty, Dr. Muñoz completed a year of clinical research fellowship at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. He completed internal medicine residency and cardiovascular medicine fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served as an Assistant Chief of Service on the Osler Medical Service from 2009-2010. He completed his undergraduate degree in economics at Princeton University, obtained his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and has a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
