Professional Bio
Fiona Harrison, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her research focus is on how our diet, environmental exposures and other illnesses and injury can influence our brain health and behavior and contribute to susceptibility to Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
In particular the Harrison lab is interested in effects of vitamin C deficiency and exposure to manganese their impacts on behavior and dopaminergic and glutamatergic function. Work in the Harrison lab is performed predominantly in rodent models and cell culture systems and Dr. Harrison strives to provide a supportive environment for all trainees and collaborators to thrive and develop.
