Professional Bio
Katherine M. Heckman, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine within the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She began her medical career at University of Michigan Medical School. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, after which she served in the Department of Medicine as the Hugh J. Morgan Chief Resident in Ambulatory Medicine. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine by ABIM since 2023.
Dr. Heckman's research background is in machine learning applications of medical imaging. Her clinical interests include clinical education, medical education administration, cardiovascular medicine, and comparative medicine.
She practices internal medicine as a hospitalist physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also teaches in the Foundations of Physician Responsibility course for Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
