Katrina was born and raised in Rome, New York. She earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and studied in the Honors College at Ithaca College. At Ithaca College, Katrina discovered her passion for research and became interested in medicine, spurring her desire to become a physician-scientist. Katrina went on to pursue her MD at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where she also completed a PhD in Pharmacology. Her doctoral research focused on identifying therapeutic targets in Triple Negative Breast Cancer and elucidating their mechanism of action. Katrina will be joining her husband, Michael McHenry, a current Vanderbilt resident, and their dog, Cooper, in Nashville. Outside of work, Katrina enjoys outdoor cycling, Peloton, camping, hiking, skiing, attending/trying new fitness classes, and reading.
