Kristy Custer
Interests

Kristy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and spent the first decade of her life there before moving to Tennessee, where she quickly developed a love for the outdoors, community, and Southern hospitality. She attended Middle Tennessee State University where she earned her degree in biology, before pursuing her medical education at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine–Auburn Campus. Throughout her training, Kristy developed a passion for building meaningful relationships with patients and understanding the many factors that influence health and wellness. During medical school, Kristy became involved in research, medical education, and advocacy, and participated in projects focused on improving patient care and access to health resources. She is particularly interested in preventive care, patient education, and taking a comprehensive approach to medicine by understanding each patient’s unique goals, experiences, and circumstances. She looks forward to continuing to grow as an internist while developing the skills needed to become a compassionate, patient-centered physician. Outside of medicine, Kristy enjoys spending time outdoors, strength training, baking, and spending time with her husband and their red golden retriever, Butters. She is excited to put down roots in Tennessee and begin this next chapter with the Vanderbilt Wilson County Internal Medicine family.
