Lizzy was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Florida as part of their Medical Honors Program. In her first year of medical school at UF, Lizzy learned that she carries the BRCA2 mutation, prompting her to pursue a PhD in molecular genetics at Columbia University. She wrote her dissertation on therapeutic targeting of the chromatin landscape in squamous cell carcinomas. Upon returning to complete her MD, she fully realized her passion for clinical oncology. In her spare time, Lizzy can be found lifting weights, making vegan cookies, or playing with her cats, Zoey Ravioli and Pretzel.
