Professional Bio
Manhal Izzy, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Department of Medicine, and a transplant hepatology consultant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is the director for the Transplant Hepatology fellowship program and is the director for the hepatology research in the division. He specializes in the clinical management of patients with liver disorders and that of liver transplant recipients.
Dr. Izzy is also a clinical researcher, and his research focuses on the complications of portal hypertension, the extrahepatic manifestations of cirrhosis namely Cirrhotic Cardiomyopathy, and improving transplant outcomes. He has published many peer-reviewed articles, delivered numerous lectures nationally and internationally, and received multiple teaching and clinical excellence awards. Dr. Izzy serves on the editorial board for Liver Transplantation and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for multiple Gastroenterology and Hepatology journals.
