Professional Bio
Mark S. McClain, PhD, is a Research Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His research is focused on bacterial pathogenesis. His lab uses a variety of molecular biological, biochemical, and cell biological techniques to understand the interaction between toxins or lipoproteins and mammalian cells and the cellular responses to these bacterial factors. Through studying such factors, they expect to better understand the molecular events that contribute to disease and to develop therapeutic inhibitors that will be used to treat disease.
