Professional Bio
Meredith E. Pugh, MD, MSCI, is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She completed internal medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation degree at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Pugh has received numerous teaching awards and recognitions, and she is a leader of several educational programs in the Vanderbilt School of Medicine, and she serves as the Program Director of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program at VUMC. She is actively involved in leadership committees in national organizations including CHEST. She has been an invited speaker locally and nationally at specialty conferences and board review courses.
She attends clinically in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and on inpatient pulmonary and pulmonary consult services at VUMC, and she is a member of the pulmonary ECMO team. Her outpatient clinic is dedicated to caring for patients with pulmonary hypertension and other pulmonary vascular disorders.
Dr. Pugh’s prior research was in evaluating metabolic disturbances in pulmonary hypertension, and she continues to work alongside investigators in the Pulmonary Hypertension program to participate in translational and clinical trials in pulmonary hypertension.
