Michael grew up outside of Seattle in Woodinville, Washington. He studied Chemistry at Occidental College in Los Angeles before spending a year teaching primary and secondary school in Chennai, India. From 2014 to 2017, he worked as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and completed his MD/PhD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2025. Michael's research focuses on building AI and informatics software that operates within the electronic health record, creating learning health systems to predict treatment response and clinical outcomes for cardiovascular patients. He is thrilled to join the PSTP and internal medicine program at Vanderbilt to pursue a career as a cardiologist and physician-scientist. Outside the hospital, Michael can usually be found hiking with his wife and daughter or at the grill smoking a mean pork shoulder.
