Michelle Cancel
Professional Bio
Michelle Cancel, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A Wisconsin native, Dr. Cancel received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison and her Doctor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. While in medical school, her interests included asthma education and community medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, where she discovered her passion for pulmonary and critical care medicine. She completed fellowship training in both Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Her time in fellowship was primarily during the COVID-19 pandemic where she learned important skills during a critical time. Following her training, Dr. Cancel relocated to La Crosse, Wis., to work at Gundersen Health System in both Pulmonary and Critical Care.
