Professional Bio
Mona Mashayekhi, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Chicago, followed by combined MD/PhD training at Washington University in St Louis. Dr. Mashayekhi then came to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for internal medicine residency in 2013, and was selected as a chief resident in 2016. She completed fellowship in endocrinology at Vanderbilt in 2020, and has been on the faculty since then. Dr. Mashayekhi's clinical focus is on gestational diabetes and other endocrine disorders of pregnancy. Her research is focused on the contribution of chronic inflammation in individuals with obesity to cardiometabolic diseases including heart disease and diabetes.
