Nathan was born in San Diego, California, the son of two United States Navy Dental Corps officers. He went to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he majored in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences. He completed his combined MD/PhD training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where his research focused on mechanisms that regulate inflammation during acute lung injuries. Nathan is coming to Vanderbilt as a Harrison Society trainee and plans to specialize in pulmonary and critical care medicine. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys spending time outside with his dog, Jessie. His hobbies include hiking, running, skiing, camping, and reading. Above all, his greatest passion is traveling the world to places off the beaten path and without cellular service. Nathan is thrilled to be headed to Nashville to join the Vanderbilt family…and so is Jessie!
