Professional Bio
Nimrat Bains, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She earned her medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas in 2016 and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University in 2019.
Prior to joining Vanderbilt, Dr. Bains served in graduate medical education leadership roles from 2019 to 2026 as the Associate Program Director on the founding leadership team, and subsequently Program Director, of an Internal Medicine residency program in Georgia. She helped build and lead the program from its inception, overseeing initiatives including curriculum development, mentorship, and process improvement. She also chaired several committees focused on faculty development, wellness, clinical competency, program evaluation, and intern onboarding.
Drawing on leadership experience in both educational and clinical settings, Dr. Bains brings a systems-oriented approach to patient care. Her practice philosophy emphasizes identifying upstream solutions that create a meaningful impact for patients and their families.
