Professional Bio
Omolola Olajide, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism, Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She graduated from the University of Ibadan Medical school in Nigeria then completed both her residency in internal medicine and fellowship training in endocrinology at the SUNY at Stony Brook (East Meadow Program) in New York. She was in private practice in Dewey, Arizona for four years before transitioning to academic medicine and joining the Department of Medicine in the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in 2009.
Dr. Olajide is board certified in both General Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She initially served as the Associate Program Director for two years and subsequently as the Program Director for the Endocrinology Fellowship Program at Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University for about eight years. She became a Professor of Medicine at the Marshall University School of Medicine in 2021.
She is a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. She is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry and a diplomate of the American board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Olajide's special interests include management of diabetes, obesity, thyroid disorders, and metabolic bone disorders especially osteoporosis. She is also passionate about medical education and has been actively involved in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
