Raphael Crum, MD, PhD

Housestaff

Division of Medicine Administration

PGY2

Raphael Crum
Interests

Raphael was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio into a family of art historians and college professors. He successfully navigated his BS in Biology from the University of Dayton without taking a single class from his parents before heading east to pursue his MD/PhD training at the University of Pittsburgh. There he developed a keen interest in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and the intersection of immunology and extracellular matrix biology. Outside of the hospital and lab, Raphael enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and dog. When not outside, the three of them are joined by the additional company of their cat and the occasional serious distraction of Steelers football and Dayton Flyers basketball. Raphael is excited to join Vanderbilt IM and the Harrison Society for his continued clinical and scientific training with the goal of becoming a gastroenterologist-scientist.
