Professional Bio
Ronald K. McMillan, PhD, is a postdoctoral research fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Celestine Wanjalla in the Department of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Master of Science in Microbiology from North Carolina Central University, and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Delaware. His doctoral research focused on the effects of dietary sodium and fructose on blood pressure regulation, renal sodium handling, inflammation, and vascular function in humans. Dr. McMillan’s current research explores cardiometabolic disease in people living with HIV, with an emphasis on how immune and metabolic pathways contribute to cardiovascular risk and how novel mechanistic insights can inform future prevention and treatment strategies.
