Professional Bio
Shana Theobald, MD, is a Family Medicine physician and LGBTQ+ Healthcare Fellow at Vanderbilt Health. She has devoted her career to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for patients with limited access to health care. Her clinical interests include LGBTQ+ health, obesity medicine, lifestyle medicine, women's health, preventive care, and public health.
Dr. Theobald earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota, before completing her Doctor of Medicine at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine residency with an Obstetrics emphasis at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado, where she developed a strong foundation in full-spectrum family medicine.
Dr. Theobald has long been committed to advancing care for all patients through education, prevention, and community engagement. Her experiences caring for rural, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ populations have shaped her commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and access to compassionate, evidence-based care. She received the Father Jack McCarthy Service in Medicine Award from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.
At Vanderbilt Health, Dr. Theobald is completing fellowship training in LGBTQ+ Healthcare while expanding her expertise in obesity medicine and lifestyle interventions. She is committed to creating welcoming clinical environments where patients feel seen, respected, and empowered to achieve their health goals through individualized, evidence-based care.
