Professional Bio
Suman Kundu, DSc, is a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. He is primarily responsible in providing statistical support in various NIH-funded projects linking standard risk factors, genetic variants, immune cells and bio-markers with cardiovascular disease.
His research largely focuses on investigating the impact of standard risk factors, genetic variants and biomarkers in understanding the relationship between HIV infection and the risk of cardiovascular disease using large health care databases such as the Veterans Aging Cohort Study (VACS). He is interested in advanced statistical modeling applied in health science, and methodological and analytical considerations in prediction research.
He received his DSc in Epidemiology from Erasmus University in the Netherlands and MSc in Mathematics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Dr. Kundu's work has resulted in more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles, including Nature Genetics, JACC, JAMA and Neurology. He has conducted peer review for several journals, including BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making, the European Journal of Heart Failure, Diabetologia and American Journal of Public Health.
