Professional Bio
Tania Ruiz, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). She received her Medical Degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and completed her Internal Medicine residency at New York University Langone Medical Center. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital Clinical Track, and an advanced fellowship in Cardiovascular Imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Ruiz also further cultivated her interest in sports and performance cardiology in a visiting rotation at the Massachusetts General Hospital's Corrigan Minehan Heart Center Cardiovascular Performance Program and as a support physician for the New York City Marathon. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Ruiz has been involved in clinical research. In addition to providing comprehensive, individualized cardiovascular care, Dr. Ruiz’s research and clinical interests include cardiac MRI, cardiovascular sports performance, non-invasive cardiac imaging techniques, and preventive cardiology. Her most notable contributions are in the field of cardiology with successfully published work in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology, and the Journal of Vascular Medicine, among other high impact journals. Dr. Ruiz is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American Society of Echocardiography, Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
