Assistant Professor of Medicine

Division of Cardiovascular Medicine
Timothy Thayer
Professional Bio
Tim Thayer, MD, is an Assistant Professor, clinician educator and general cardiologist in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He joined the faculty at VUMC in 2022 with an initial appointment at Nashville General Hospital before transitioning to the VUMC main campus in 2024. He sees patients with any conditions under the umbrella of cardiovascular medicine that are not better handled by his subspecialist colleagues. Dr. Thayer is a mindfulness practitioner who views medicine as the art of shaping treatment options to each individual to alleviate suffering in its many forms including physical, psychological, social and spiritual. Dr. Thayer is grateful for the opportunity to cultivate and exercise compassionate care as taught to him by his many wonderful teachers including, most notably, his patients.
