Deep Patel, MD

Fellow

Division of Geriatric Medicine

Clinical Fellow PGY 4

Deep Patel
Professional Bio
Deep Patel, MD, is a clinical fellow in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine at Vanderbilt Health. He was born in Newark, New Jersey, and raised in Savannah, Georgia, where he completed his undergraduate education. He later moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, for a post-baccalaureate program before beginning medical school at Ross University School of Medicine. His medical journey took him through Barbados, Michigan, Connecticut and Florida before he completed an internal medicine residency in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Through his residency training, Dr. Patel developed a deep appreciation for the care of older adults that resulted from his broad exposure to complex geriatric patients with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and valvular heart disease. His interest in geriatrics and cardiology became closely connected after witnessing how interventions such as TAVR can meaningfully improve the quality of life for older patients. He hopes to pursue cardiology after fellowship, with a particular interest in structural heart disease and cardiovascular care in aging adults. Outside the hospital, he enjoys working out, weightlifting, running, hill climbing, yoga, Pilates and outdoor biking.
