Professional Bio
Kathleen Mathieu, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at Vanderbilt Health. Dr. Mathieu earned her undergraduate degree from Tufts University before working as a clinical researcher and medical scribe. She received her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and completed her fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Mathieu's clinical practice focuses on the care of hospitalized older adults. She serves as an attending physician on the inpatient Geriatric Medicine Service, the Geriatric Medicine Consult Service and the Transitions of Care Consult Service, and also provides care in the skilled nursing facility setting. Her clinical interests include hospital medicine, delirium prevention, polypharmacy, and improving transitions of care for older adults across healthcare settings. She is committed to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care and to advancing the health and well-being of older adults through interdisciplinary collaboration and excellence in clinical care.
