Faculty Positions


The Section of Hospital Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health seeks talented BC/BE Internal Medicine physicians to join the full-time faculty at the level of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, on a clinical, academic, or research track. Clinical Practitioners (CP track), including daytime, nocturnist, or mixed roles, are available for well-trained physicians who wish to focus on direct patient care and medical consultation. Faculty members in the CP track currently participate in several educational, quality, and clinical leadership activities.  All new clinical providers start on this track.  

An Academic Clinician-Educator (CE) track position is 80% clinical, with additional responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, quality improvement, and administration. Faculty in this track typically have additional fellowship experience and/or a dedicated record of excellence in education or leadership.   

A Physician-Scientist (PS) track provides 80% time for research in collaboration with established investigators in health services research, quality improvement, patient safety, behavioral sciences, and biomedical informatics.  Prior research fellowship training is required.  

Hospital Medicine Extensivists (VICP program) provide longitudinal inpatient, outpatient, and care across transitions, to patients at risk of increased healthcare utilization. Providers work with an interdisciplinary team and offer a follow-up clinic.   

Advanced practice providers (APPs), including NP (Nurse Practitioner) and PA (Physician Assistant) candidates, are eligible for day, night, or hybrid positions, including work in the Observation unit, Geri team, Hospital at Home team, or cross-cover (Scoville) team.
