The department has 16 ACGME-accredited fellowships and several non-accredited fellowships in various subspecialty disciplines that trained 145 residents and 266 fellows at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Nashville VA Medical Center in the 2024-2025 academic year.
The department also has a robust research portfolio currently supported by over $277M of annual external research funding. Vanderbilt currently ranks first in NIH research funding among all Departments of Medicine in U.S. medical schools.
